Toast's menu is chock-full of breakfast eats (benedicts, omelettes, crepes, etc.) and lunch fare (soups, salads, gourmet sandwiches, and more). For savory eats, try the veggie eggs benedict ($11), a fresh spin on the meaty morning staple with sautéed spinach and grilled artichoke hearts, or the El Bucktowno sandwich ($9.50) with marinated chicken breast, spicy mayo, and grilled veggies. Sink sweet teeth into a tall order of flavored pancakes (banana pecan, chocolate chip, blueberry, or lemon poppy seed) ($8) or the toast granola starring local blueberries, cherries, fresh fruit, and honey atop a plop of vanilla yogurt ($8.75).

Warm, buttery tones, wooden chairs, and elegantly dressed tables give Toast's locations the warm, inviting feel of Mrs. Butterworth's summer home in the Hamptons. The Lincoln Park eatery boasts a liquor menu, anchored by an eye-opening wasabi Bloody Mary, while the Bucktown outpost is BYOB and offers patio seating during the summer months. Both restaurants are open daily for breakfast and lunch, with the last weekend seating at 3:45 p.m., and 2:45 p.m. on weekdays.

Toast on Damen Avenue opened its doors in 1999. A selection of classic espresso drinks is available at the Bucktown location, and an outdoor patio is open spring through autumn, weather permitting.
